With the 17th-Annual Bank Hoops All-State Camp a week away, here is another look at a prospect college coaches will want to check out September 26 at Morey Courts in Mt. Pleasant.

Grosse Pointe South junior guard Anthony Benard.
We’ve been saying for awhile that Michigan’s 2023 guard class could rival the legendary backcourt class to come out of the state a decade prior in 2013. So far so good, as double-digit junior guards already have D1 offers. One of those is 6-1 Anthony Benard from Grosse Pointe South, with an offer from Detroit. Benard is an eltie shooter, but as he’s matured the athleticism has come, as he can dunk and can make anticipatory and creative plays on or off the ball, offensively or defensively. He was all-conference as both a freshman and sophomore, even though GP South jumped from the MAC White to the MAC Red. He has often been at his best, against the best, like 23 points last March against Ferndale’s D1 backcourt, and a 20-point game for The Family in July at the EYBL.
