As the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic continues, we remain committed to the overall safety and well-being of participants, event operators and staff. Emergency legislation was previously adopted to establish a temporary recruiting dead period through at least May 31. Discussions continue regarding extending the dead period into summer. The June and July evaluation periods are still questionable. The NCAA Division I Council Coordination Committee convened on May 6. Extension of the dead period was discussed, but no decisions were made. The committee agreed to review the status of the dead period again during next week’s meeting, but did indicate that it is likely to extend the temporary recruiting dead period through June 30. Additional medical information and feedback from the sport oversight committees and other constituencies will be provided at next week’s meeting and it is likely to make a decision at that time. The public statement summarizing the committee’s actions is posted online: DI Council Coordination Committee Approves Blanket Waiver Requests.Additionally, no decisions have been made about the addition of future dates. We understand the overwhelming challenges this creates for all involved and remain committed to keeping you updated on any additional changes to the 2020 NCAA men’s and women’s basketball recruiting calendar as they become available.
