On the eve of the 17th-annual Bank Hoops All-State Camp, here’s a look at another prospect coaches will want to check out Sunday at Morey Courts in Mt. Pleasant.

Charlevoix senior all-state guard Evan Solomon.
Evan Solomon is a 6-3 smooth, athletic, all-around guard from Charlevoix, where for the last two seasons he’s torn up one of the state’s top small-school leagues. What separates him as a prospect is Solomon’s propensity for making tough, contested, college-caliber shots. And he’s also really good at uncontested shots — 90-percent from the line last season. He averaged 18 as a sophomore and 17 as a junior. How good a scorer? In 16U AAU he was a teammate of Max Burton (WMU) and Drew Barrie (Michigan Tech), and Solomon was the squad’s leading scorer in at least as many games as either of them. A true athlete who was an individual cross country regional champion as a sophomore then made the switch to becoming an all-conference football player. Great grades, test scores.
